Houses in Mediterranean
Spain have traditionally had small windows and heavy shutters to keep the heat of the
blazing sun out which unfortunately resulted in dark and dingy interiors and having
to keep the lights on. However the latest innovations in glass manufacturing with
high insulating factors and reflective coatings allied with a large overhanging roofline
to provide shade eliminates the problems of overheated rooms and allows the occupants to
benefit from a bright, light and airy interior.
Another advantage, especially
in these particular villas is the fantastic view that these large expanses of glass allow
as the garden to the rear of each villa is open to the surrounding countryside.
The remaining three sides of the plot are walled in to provide total privacy.
The large overhanging roof
which extends all around the villa also provides for covered terraces off the living room,
dining room and kitchen.
The kitchen follows this
modern theme of clean lines with a very uncluttered look and fully fitted appliances plus
the utility area for washing machine, water heater, etc is hidden away in a room of its
own behind frosted glass doors. |
